Men’s Knockout

The Knockout brings out 48 two-man teams to compete in a match play contest that plays out over the course of the season. The first round consists of sixteen three team groupings. Each team is guaranteed two matches with the winner of each group moving on to the round of sixteen. All first round matches must be completed by June 30th. The entry fee is $50 per team. The Knockout is open to all Regular Active and Intermediate members.

11 Man Shootout

Qualification for the Shootout begins in May. The 11 players with the lowest 18-hole net scores qualify. Players can attempt to qualify as many times as they wish. There is a fee of $10 for the first qualifying attempt and $5 for each subsequent attempt.

The 11 players who have qualified play the Shootout round with all 11 playing the first hole together! This is a fun event to watch as well as to play. Come out, grab a cart and a cooler and watch as one player is eliminated on each hole until only two remain to shoot it out on the par 3 practice hole.

Member Guest Events

There are several men’s and women’s Member Guest events held during the course of the season.  These are terrific opportunities to bring friends to experience Sharon Country Club at its best. Enjoy one or more days of competitive golf, story telling, and fine dining. The number and timing of these events will be determined by the Tournament Committee and announced in the last half of March. Typically, you can expect a 3-day weekend and several 1-day midweek Member Guest events.

Club Championships

The Men’s Club Championships are played in July across two weekends. There are Open, A, B, and C flights. The top 8 finishers in each flight qualify with their finish determining the seeding. Three days of match play determines the winners.

The Ladies Club Championship is a two-day competition played in September. Their Open flight is match play while the A flight is stroke play over the two days.

Sharon Country Club Cancer Benefit

All members and guests are welcome! The format is a scramble with prizes for Women’s, Men’s and mixed teams. The entry fee is $60 and includes carts, golf, lunch and a donation. A raffle is held after lunch to continue the fundraising. All players are also asked to bring a raffle prize.

Last August over $6,000.00 was raised for the support of cancer research at Dana Farber. In previous years, we have supported the ESSCO-MGH Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Night Glow-Ball Golf

Join us for 5 holes of golf played in the dark! If you haven't tried night golf, you've missed a good time. It's swinging in the dark, right? The format is a scramble. Select your partners or get matched up. No handicaps - darkness is the great equalizer. The competition is five par 3 holes with blind approaches to #1, 2, 3, 18, and 9 each from about 150 yards out.

Each player receives a glow ball and glow sticks. Glow sticks on the flag mark pins. Visual aids are allowed. Bring your own flashlight, miner's helmet, or other illumination if you want. Boxes of matches and burning torches are strongly discouraged. There are no golf carts allowed out due to the darkness. So bring your own wheels or carry a light bag.

Gilligan Cup

The Gilligan Cup is a couples match play elimination contest played out over the course of the summer. The winners of the Gilligan Cup in the previous year have the pleasure of arranging the brackets for this year.  The entry fee is $50.00 per couple with the money going to the winning couple to use for hosting the Gilligan Cup Dinner Party at the end of the season.
